Choosing the Right Golf Club

Choosing the right golf club can seem like a daunting task, especially if you’re just getting into playing golf. Choosing a Driver

A driver is another essential piece of equipment for any golfer’s bag. A driver allows you to hit long shots from the tee box and helps increase distance off the tee. Most drivers today feature large heads as well as weights or other adjustments on the sole that help customize its performance

As golfers, we find ourselves in the market for a new club or set of clubs at least every 2 years. The average golfer purchases a new driver every 5 years and irons every 3-4 years. In this article, I will attempt to help you choose the right golf club for your game.

Golf is an individual sport. Although you compete against other players, you are ultimately trying to beat the course itself. Golf courses are designed not only with distance and hazards in mind but also with the type of player that will be playing it. Sure there are slight variations to this rule but when it comes down to it, there are two different types of golf courses; links courses and parkland courses.

Links courses come from Scotland where the game originated. These courses were built on sandy dunes close to the sea and feature little vegetation (trees). Instead, they have tall grasses, bunkers, and hazards such as water and sand traps. They also feature large greens that slope towards the ocean. The wind is almost always a factor while playing a links course due to its seaside location.

The most famous links course in the world is St Andrews in Scotland which has been played since 1552 and hosts The Open Championship once every 5 years

A golf club is a club used to hit a golf ball in a game of golf. Each club is composed of a shaft with a grip and a club head. Woods are mainly used for long-distance fairway or tee shots; irons, the most versatile class, are used for a variety of shots; hybrids that combine design elements of woods and irons are becoming increasingly popular; putters are used mainly on the green to roll the ball into the cup. A standard set consists of 14 golf clubs, and while there are traditional combinations sold at retail as matched sets, players are free to use any combination of 14 or fewer legal clubs.

An important variation in different clubs is loft, or the angle between the club’s face and the vertical plane. The impact of the club compresses the ball, while grooves on the club face give the ball backspin. Together, the compression and backspin create lift. The majority of woods and irons are labeled with a number; higher numbers indicate shorter shafts and higher lofts, which give the ball a higher, shorter trajectory.

The Links Golf Course is the only course in the United States that is a certified Audubon International Classic Sanctuary. This designation is given only to those courses in which wildlife and habitat conservation measures as well as sustainable golf course management practices are employed.

The Links Golf Course focuses on maintaining a healthy environment while providing a high quality of play. We operate with a single focus: to provide the highest quality golf experience in all areas, including service, maintenance, and the surroundings.

By replacing one hundred percent of our irrigation water with reclaimed water we ensure that we are not using drinking water on our golf course greens. This has also provided us with a consistent quality playing surface year round.

Reclaimed water is exactly what it sounds like: wastewater that has been reclaimed or recycled for reuse. Wastewater treatment facilities clean this water to very high standards, ensuring that it can be reused in a variety of ways.

Keeping our environment healthy and sustainable is important to us at The Links Golf Course – and you should know your business is valued by ours
