Breckenridge Jr., who served as the head of the Missouri Department of Conservation from 1934 to his death in 1948.

The JCB Golf Course at MacKenzie Country Club is the premier golf destination for members of the McLean County Chamber of Commerce. The 18-hole championship layout is a challenging 6,933 yards from the back tees and features bent grass greens, tees and fairways. The course offers four sets of tees to accommodate all levels of play.

Abandoned golf courses are those that were built in such a manner that they were impossible from the start, but which were nevertheless kept in existence for decades because of their extreme popularity with players. These courses are often referred to as “par-fives,” because they were designed with no bunkers, no trees and no water hazards.
The reason for their popularity was that it was possible for players to achieve great scores with little effort on these courses. This was achieved by using very long clubs, which allowed the golfer to drive farther than he could otherwise, and by using very heavy balls, which enabled him to hit the ball much harder than he would normally have been able to do.
