World Golf Village is a golf resort in St. Augustine, Florida, USA, located between Jacksonville and St. Augustine off Interstate 95. It is the home of the World Golf Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame was originally supposed to be located near the PGA Village in Port St. Lucie, Florida but after delays and fundraising difficulties it was decided to put it in St. Johns County instead.
The resort was designed as a tourist destination with two championship golf courses designed by Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer, an IMAX theater, two luxury hotels, a convention center and a golf academy. The Hall of Fame opened on May 19, 1998 with an inaugural class that included Nicklaus, Palmer, Byron Nelson and former U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower among others.[1]
In addition to the World Golf Hall of Fame, which contains exhibits about all aspects of golf history,[2] the resort also features:
The World Golf Village is made for walking. After all, it was the vision of golf legend Sam Snead who wanted guests to be able to walk the course and enjoy the beauty of the game. However, many people have a hard time walking the course and prefer to rent a golf cart to get around.
World Golf Village offers golf cart rentals on a daily basis. If you’re planning a day at the World Golf Hall of Fame or are staying in one of their bed-and-breakfast rooms, you can call the front desk and they will arrange for a cart to be delivered to you.
If you’re planning to stay in one of their condos, however, you’ll need to make your own arrangements. You can contact any of these local companies:
