Summer is a great time to get out on the course. The weather is nice and you can spend more time in the sun, instead of sitting in your office. Here are some tips to help you better your game this summer:

Add spin to short iron shots by making sure your ball position is close to the center of your stance, and that you clip the ball off the turf on a steep angle of attack. This will keep your divots going forward, not back toward you.

Make sure your left arm is straight and locked at impact, so that you can swing down into the ball from inside the target line. This will put backspin on it, so it flies higher and rolls less when it lands.

Putt with authority by making sure the shaft of your putter leans slightly forward at address, not backward. This will promote a descending blow without any help from the hands or wrists.

You spent the entire cold season looking forward to spending a beautiful summer day with friends on your favorite course. But if you’re not careful, those long months of inactivity can quickly spoil your fun.

Before you start swinging this summer, make sure your body is ready for golf. Here are some tips to help you stay healthy and injury free:

1.Take It Slow In The Beginning – Just like any other sport or physical activity, our body needs time to adapt and adjust as we begin to exercise after a prolonged period of inactivity. Starting slow will help you prevent muscle soreness and joint pain before they have a chance to occur. Take it easy for the first week or two and allow your body sufficient time to prepare for more strenuous exercise later on.

2.Stretch Before You Start – Stretching is one of the best ways to reduce muscle soreness and minimize your risk of injury. The majority of golfers have a tendency to lift their head when they swing the club, which causes an open club face at impact. This ultimately leads to shots that are sliced right or hooked left. To learn how to keep your head down, try the following drill: Tee up a ball and address it as you normally would. Now, place a small piece of paper under your chin. Golf Rules

I was playing in a tournament and my ball hit the flag stick sticking out of the ground on the green and bounced backwards off the green. Do I have to replace the ball back where it was?

Yes, if it is your own shot and not another players shot, you have to replace the ball back where it was. The only exception is if it is a putt and hit the flag stick or another player’s ball (ball at rest) in which case you would get relief without penalty one club length from the lip of the hole but not closer to the hole than where the ball lay.
