If you’re looking to get back into your golf game this spring, then you’ll want to make sure your swing is on point.
A golf swing is a serious thing, and even minor tweaks can make a huge difference in how well you play.
To get started, here’s a list of three things you need to watch out for.
The course is located adjacent to the Rolling Hills Zoo. It is a 9-hole regulation length golf course. This short layout has 3 sets of teeboxes for a fun, but challenging golfing experience. There are no water hazards on the course, however, many sand bunkers are present throughout the design.
The club house is located in the zoo parking lot and features a pro shop and snack bar. Green fees include admission to the zoo on that day.
Golf is a club-and-ball sport in which players use various clubs to hit balls into a series of holes on a course in as few strokes as possible.
Golf, unlike most ball games, cannot and does not utilize a standardized playing area, and coping with the varied terrains encountered on different courses is a key part of the game. The game at the usual level is played on a course with an arranged progression of either 9 or 18 holes. Each hole on the course must contain a tee box to start from, and a putting green containing the actual hole. There are other standard forms of terrain in between, such as the fairway, rough (long grass), sand traps (or “bunkers”), and various hazards (water, rocks).
Golf is played for the lowest number of strokes by an individual, known simply as stroke play, or the lowest score on the most individual holes in a complete round by an individual or team, known as match play. Stroke play is the most commonly seen format at almost all levels of play, although variations of match play such as “skins” games are also seen in televised events. Other forms of scoring also exist.
The game of golf has changed dramatically over the last decade and so have the players. The average golfer is no longer a middle-aged business man, as it is now a very popular sport for men and women of all ages. Because of the increase in popularity, more courses are being built to accommodate all the new players. Many players now play both on public and private courses.
One of the main differences between public and private courses is cost. A membership to a private course can be very expensive, often costing thousands of dollars a year, with additional costs for playing with guests or for tournaments. Public courses are much less expensive and often offer discounts for playing at off-peak times.
Public golf courses are usually open to anyone who wishes to play. As long as you can pay the greens fee, you can play on most public courses. Some public courses also require that you make tee times before playing as they may be very busy in the summer months.
