World Golf Village is a golf resort in St. Johns County, Florida, United States, located between Jacksonville and St. Augustine. It is home to the World Golf Hall of Fame and the World Golf Village IMAX Theater, as well as two golf courses, the King & Bear and Slammer & Squire. The PGA Tour headquarters are also located at World Golf Village.
The Hall of Fame was originally scheduled to open in August 1998 but opened in May 1999 during The Players Championship tournament. The World Golf Foundation announced plans for the Hall of Fame on November 4, 1993 and organized a group of 26 corporations to underwrite its construction with $5 million each. Ground was broken on March 12, 1997. The Hall of Fame building contains 30,000 square feet (2,800 m2) and features a rotunda entrance that houses a bronze statue of Bobby Jones, one of 13 great players honored in the Hall’s Great Hall of Honor.
