Golf Lessons

Taking lessons is a good way to learn golf, but it can be expensive. If you are on a budget, you should consider taking group lessons instead of private lessons, as this will cost less per person. You can find a local teacher by searching online for “golf instructors” in your area (replace “your area” with your city and state). Many courses have in-house instructors that you can take lessons from as well.

Practice

Practice is the most important part of learning any sport, including golf! The more you practice, the better you will get at the game! It is best if you practice your swing every day for about half an hour at least three times per week on average; however, if possible try not to go more than two days in between sessions so that your body doesn’t forget its muscle memory!

1. Play more golf

For most of us, this is the first and easiest way to learn golf. If you love playing golf, you’ll naturally want to play as much as possible. And the more you play, the better you’ll become.

Plus, it’s the perfect opportunity to practice what you’re learning!

2. Watch a lot of golf on TV

If you can’t get out on the course as often as you like – or when the weather turns bad – watching golf on TV is a great way to see how professionals play and learn new techniques and strategies.

3. Read a lot of books about golf

If your passion for learning knows no bounds, you’ll find that books can be an incredibly useful resource to learn from. There are thousands of books written about every aspect of golf out there, so you should have no trouble finding something helpful for whatever topic you want to learn about.

4. Take lessons from a pro

If all else fails, taking lessons from a real-life pro will give you instant access to their knowledge and experience. You’ll discover things that have worked for them in the past (and what hasn’t!).

1. Experiential Learning

Experiential Learning is a fancy way of saying that you learn by doing. This method is generally considered the most effective way to learn how to play golf. It can also be the most expensive option, but on the plus side it also tends to be the most fun.

If you are lucky enough to live near a golf course, this could be an option for you. If not, check out some local driving ranges or putt-putt courses and see if they offer lessons. If so, sign up!

If you want to try this method without having to pay for lessons at a pro shop, grab a friend who knows how to golf and have them show you the ropes. You might even have luck asking around at the driving range and finding someone who is willing to take you under their wing for an afternoon or two.

2. Online resources

The internet has shown just how much information is out there and available for anyone willing to look for it – including information on learning how to play golf. There are tons of sites out there that have instructions on everything from selecting your first set of clubs to properly lining up your feet for a swing with a 9-iron.

I was having a great round of golf and I was looking forward to seeing if I could shoot under 80 for the first time.

But then on the 9th hole, my drive hit a cart path and bounced way right into the trees.

I was able to punch out, but I ended up making double bogey. I shot 85 that day and missed out on shooting in the 70s.

I’m not alone with this experience. There are many times when one bad shot ruins our whole day of golf.

So what can we do to avoid this problem?

The first thing is to understand that you’re going to hit bad shots. Don’t get frustrated when you do.

Every golfer hits bad shots, even when they are playing great golf.
